FOLSOM FOCUS

Folsom Patrons Of The Arts is proud to sponsor Folsom Focus, the area's preeminent photography contest capturing the faces and places of Folsom. Get out your camera and hit the town for a chance to win cash prizes and notoriety within the art community. Contestants may enter a total of five photos in their age group selecting from six themes. Prizes are awarded for each theme in each age group.

Photos can be color or black and white but must be shot, prepared and presented in accordance with the rules below to be eligible so read carefully and have fun shooting! Print and complete your Entry Form to enter and show the world your skills.

Photo Categories:

Capture life in Folsom through photography using the six contest categories as your guideline. Entrees will be accepted in three age groups for each theme:

Under 12 years of age
12 - 17 years of age
18 years of age and older

Description

Black and White:

Show Folsom as you see it in black and white.

Folsom Bridges:

In many ways Folsom is defined by its bridges. Capture the beauty of these bridges in your own unique way.

Folsom Faces:

Folsom is filled with diversity. Take a photo of one of those interesting faces

Fun in Folsom:

Folsom is overflowing with fun things to do. Capture a photo of people enjoying the many activities available in our town.

Folsom Old and New:

Folsom has a long historical tradition, and a promising future. Take a photo that demonstrates your view of Folsom’s past, present, and future.

Folsom Outdoors:

People are drawn to Folsom by its many parkways and lakes, and the opportunity to enjoy nature within walking distance. Capture an image of the beauty that you see in the outdoors.

Submission:

Entry forms must be filled out completely and each entry must include the entry fee. Entries should be placed in an envelope and may be submitted in person or by mail.

Postage due mail can not be accepted.

Rules:

Entry fee is $5 per photo submitted, payable by cash (exact amount only) or check.
Each person may enter up to 5 total photographs.
All photos must be 8”x10” prints, with no exceptions.
Photos must be mounted on foam board only (no mat board), to the 8x10” size, with no framing.
Each photo must be clearly labeled on the back with the entrant name, photo title, category, and age group.
Submit an electronic version of photo, either on CD or by email to folsom_focus@yahoo.com.
Photos previously submitted or received after the entry deadline are ineligible.
Open to amateur photographers only: those who do not sell photography or electronic visual media.
The contestant must be the actual photographer for the image entered.
A submitted photo becomes the property of FPA and may be reproduced without limitation for public display and on any FPA collateral.
Folsom Patrons of the Arts reserves the right to disqualify or remove any inappropriate photographs, as they deem necessary.
Individuals, firms, organizations and city employees participating either as contest planners, producers, organizers, vendors, and/or judges, along with family members, are not eligible to enter this contest.

Judging:

Photos will be judged on the basis of visual appeal, pictorial composition, originality and consistency with the contest theme. Decisions of the judging panel are final.

Winning Entries:

Contestants designated as award-winners will be required to supply a digital file of the winning photo. Digital files will not be returned.
Winners agree to sign an affidavit of eligibility, listing proof of identification, age and residency; and to sign a contest release form when accepting prizes.
Winners must identify any identifiable persons appearing in their photo, and confirm that the identifiable persons have consented to having their picture taken and entered in this contest.
Winners shall allow Folsom Patrons of the Arts to display their photographs on the Folsom Patrons of the Arts web site indefinitely.
