CELEBRATING WINS
Patrons of the Arts Spring Grants
Thanks to all of your generous donations and support for Wootton’s Patrons of the Arts, we’ve been able to award Spring Grants to the Arts Departments.
These grants will fund the following new items for our students:
The Photography Department will purchase 6 new cameras, which will help reduce the number of students sharing cameras and increase their ability to practice, experiment, and learn new skills.
The Acapella Group will fund new recordings, which will help the group and department continue to build a name in the national acapella scene.
The Theatre Department will purchase new moving lights to enhance show performances.
The Music Department will replace two baritones for the Marching Band with this grant and with funds raised from donations raised with the Capital Winds Symphony fundraiser.
Stay tuned for additional fundraising opportunities to support the Arts Departments at Wootton!
If you would like to make a donation in the meantime, or become a member of the Patrons of the Arts, please do so here.
Wootton Instrumental Music Department News!
Junior All State Orchestra Members
What an extraordinary week for the Wootton Instrumental Music Department!
On Wednesday, February 19, the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra recorded the first segment of their submissions for the MidWest Band and Orchestra Clinic application and the Chamber Orchestra performed at BSU's Black History program that night. Dr. William Lake led a fantastic guest clinic with the Wind Ensemble on Friday during school.
Then, on Saturday, February 22, the Indoor Guard secured first place at the Waynesboro, PA competition—an outstanding accomplishment!
The week concluded on Sunday when 12 dedicated orchestra and band members performed with the Maryland Junior All State ensembles. These events highlight the Wootton's Band and Orchestra student’s talent, hard work, and dedication.

SPRING MUSICAL: WIZARD OF OZ
The Wootton Patriot Players present WIZARD OF OZ!
As rehearsals begin, we ask for YOUR support! Many hands make light work, and we need as many families as possible to pitch in to make this show a huge success!
We need volunteers to sell tickets, concessions, and candygrams, help backstage, provide meals during Tech Week, and donate concession and candygram items.
If you are able, please sign up for 1-2 slots (or more!) to contribute and/or volunteer. It’s easy and fun, and our committee heads and meal captains are always available to support you, so please don't hesitate to sign up. The sooner all slots are filled, the less we will have to bug you later. :-)
Elementary, middle school, and newer Wootton parents are especially welcome!
Full details at the following sign-up links:
It’s a Wootton tradition for cast, crew, and musicians to share a community meal together each night of tech week and for theater families to donate and serve those meals. We need food donations and server volunteers for March 24-28, April 1 & 5.
Donate concession snacks and drinks, candy for candygrams, and items for the cast and crew backstage. Proceeds from sales support Patrons of the Arts grants to all Wootton Arts groups including instrumental music, choral music, fine arts, and theatre. Drop off donations March 26 to April 2.
Volunteer to decorate the lobby, sell concessions, and help out backstage. Sales begin an hour before the show and during intermission. April 3 to 6.
Consider making a monetary donation to be used for meals, concessions, candygrams, or stage needs.
