CELEBRATING WINS
Patrons of the Arts - Letter advocating for the arts
In line with our mission, Patrons of the Arts respectfully submitted the attached letter to Wootton’s administration, outlining the catastrophic impact on students that will occur from cutting two senior staff positions in the Arts Program. We are hoping to engage in constructive dialogue to find a way forward that best serves the interests of our students, the Arts Program, and our broader community.
Arts families are connecting with each other informally, in a non-school sponsored forum through the Wootton Arts group in the Band App (Sign-up Here).
Wootton Choral Department News!
On March 5th, the Chamber Choir did an amazing job representing Wootton at the MCPS High School Choral Adjudication at Paint Branch HS. The group earned the highest scores possible and a superior rating from all 5 judges for both their singing and for their sight reading. One of the judges said their singing and their teamwork was inspiring and “made her week”. Congrats to these Patriots and thank you again for your support of our program!
Congrats to the Acatonics for their successful Kendra Scott fundraiser March 1st. The group did a great job performing for shoppers at Tysons Mall. Additionally, they were honored to be asked to be one of the four featured groups at Sing Out for Shelter 2025. This concert, held in DC, raises money for charities supporting DC’s homeless community. Looking forward, the group is excited to perform the National Anthem at the PTSA-sponsored Harlem Wizards Cluster Game coming up on March 31st. Come out and support them!
Wootton Instrumental Music Department News!
Wootton’s Indoor Guard delivered a stellar performance at Tuscarora on March 8, securing a well-earned 1st place finish! Their dedication and hard work were evident in a wonderful display of skill and artistry.
Additionally, our exceptional musicians representing Wootton in the Maryland Senior All-State Band and Orchestra had an unforgettable experience at the Maryland Music Educators Conference in Baltimore. They collaborated with top student musicians from across the state, showcasing their talent at the highest level. The orchestra was conducted by Professor Bruce Walker, Associate Professor of Music at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA, while the band was led by Dr. Tyler Austin, Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music at Old Dominion University.
Congratulations to all on these outstanding achievements!

SPRING MUSICAL: WIZARD OF OZ
The Wootton Patriot Players present WIZARD OF OZ!
The students are hard at work and they need YOUR support! Many hands make light work, and we need as many families as possible to pitch in to make this show a huge success!
We need volunteers to sell tickets, concessions, and candygrams, help backstage, provide meals during Tech Week, and donate concession and candygram items.
If your child is acting, in crew, or in pit orchestra, please sign up for 1-2 slots (or more!) to contribute and/or volunteer. It’s easy and fun, and our committee heads and meal captains are always available to support you, so please don't hesitate to sign up. The sooner all slots are filled, the less we will have to bug you later. :-)
Elementary, middle school, and newer Wootton parents are especially welcome!
NEW Request: Patrons of the Arts is preparing gift basket fundraisers to be raffled at the performances. We are requesting donations of NEW and relevant items that could be included in gift baskets. Items can be dropped off at Wootton during Tech Meals week and no later than March 31st. Attached is a flyer requesting donations from local businesses if you know of a business who may be interested in donating.
Full details at the following sign-up links:

Donate concession snacks and drinks, candy for candygrams, and items for the cast and crew backstage. Proceeds from sales support Patrons of the Arts grants to all Wootton Arts groups including instrumental music, choral music, fine arts, and theatre. Drop off donations March 26 to April 2.
Volunteer to decorate the lobby, sell concessions, and help out backstage. Sales begin an hour before the show and during intermission. April 3 to 6.
Consider making a monetary donation to be used for meals, concessions, candygrams, or stage needs.
If you would like to make a donation or become a member of the Patrons of the Arts, please do so here.
